1.   Indian and Vietnamese Armies Conducts  1st Military Exercise- ‘VINBAX’

  • This is the first  six- day-long military exercise between the two countries held at Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh.
  • Vietnam’s Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc also attended the  India-ASEAN Commemorative summit and participated in the Republic Day celebrations.

2. International Bird Festival will be  Held in Dudhwa National Park

  • The international bird festival is the three day event that wiil be held on February 2018  at the Dudhwa National Park, Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh.
  • It is expected that  nearly 200 leading ornithologists expected to attend this international bird festival.
  • This festival is organised in order to promote the  eco-tourism in Dudhwa and to give it a distinct international identity besides highlighting its traditional arts, culture and heritage.

3 . IPG  Selected  Five MPs  for Outstanding Parliamentarian Award 

  • Five members of parliament are selected for Outstanding Parliamentarian Awards by the Indian Parliamentary Group (IPG) headed by Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan.
  • The Outstanding Parliamentarian Award were established in 1995 and so far there are 18 eminent MPs have received the award. Chandra Shekhar of the Samajwadi Janata Party was the first one  to receive this award.

4.  Indian-American Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayen Appointed As Vice Chairman USISPF Board

  • US-India Strategic and Partnership Forum (USISPF) is the  new organisation set up to enhance business relations between India and the US.
  • The forum is set up to  promote bilateral trade and work on creating meaningful opportunities that have the power to change the lives of citizens. There are 31 board memebers in USISPF .

5. For The First Time  ‘Khadi Haat’ Inaugurated in Delhi

  • This is launched on the occasion of  69th Republic Day celebrations by the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) and New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC).
  • Union Minister of State Giriraj Singh inaugurated the ‘Khadi Haat’  in Connaught Place, New Delhi.

6. Acid attack victims will get quota in jobs under central government

  • Central government announces the quota in jobs under central government for people  with autism, mental illnesses, intellectual disability and victims of acid attack.
  • Four percent of total number of vacancies are now allocated than the existing three per cent  in groups A, B and C shall be reserved for people with benchmark disabilities in case of direct recruitment.
  • Benchmark disability means a person with disability not less than  forty per cent of a specified disability.

7. Funds of over  Rs 5 lakh crore were allocated for Bharatmala project

  • The Bharatmala project is an  umbrella programme started by the Centre that seeks to improve efficiency of road traffic movement in the country by bridging critical infrastructure gaps and boost the road connectivity in the country.
  • Under this about 53,000 km of national highways have been built to increase efficiency of the national corridor and for this a fund of  Rs 5,35,000 crore have been allocated by the centre. The announcement is made by the President Ram Nath Kovind.

8. Lulu Group, BRS Ventures  From UAE Plans To Invest In Telangana

  • The two ventures are going to invest a total amount of Rs. 3500 crore in Telangana State.
  • As per the MoU the Lulu group will invest the total amount of $400 million (Rs 2,500 crore)  in  a mega shopping mall, a logistics and export processing unit for fruits and vegetables.
  • And  Dr B.R. Shetty’s group will invest in pharmaceutical manufacturing and research and development unit, medical device manufacturing unit, greenfield multi-specialty hospitals in next three to five years with the amount of Rs 1,000 crore in Telangana.

9. CRISIL Revises its  Outlook on 18 PSBs from Negative to Stable

  • This up-gradation on 18 public sector banks (PSBs)  is done after the government announced bank-wise capital infusion and reform plans.
  • CRISIL is the rating agency and the  revision in outlook is primarily driven by the government’s PSB recapitalisation programme for this fiscal (2017-18).

10.   Sauli Niinisto Is Re-elected As Finland President For 2nd Term

  • Sauli Niinisto is popular and pragmatic president of Finland who is credited for maintaining a balanced relationship with the nation’s powerful neighbour Russia. Hence he has been re-elected for another second term .
  • Sauli Niinisto won the presidential election in the first round of voting and avoided the second round as Finland introduced a two-round presidential election by popular vote in 1994.
  • He defeated his main opponent  Pekka Haavisto of the Green party  who won just 12 percent of the votes.

9. Paytm and Alibaba’s AGTech Holdings Jointly  Launches  New Mobile Gaming Platform

  • A new mobile gaming platform ‘Gamepind’ is jointly launched by the Mobile payments company Paytm and Alibaba Group-owned AGTech Holdings Ltd for mobile users in India.
  • The share of AGTech Media in the joint venture is 45 % and rest is owned by the Paytm. Under this an amount of  $8.8 million is invested by the parent company Paytm in the joint venture for its 55% stake and AGTech Holdings Ltd contributed the $7.2 million for its 45% stake at the time of signing of agreement.
