NATIONAL

  India Test-Fires Nuclear-Capable ICBM Agni-V successfully 

  • Agni-V is  nuclear capable inter-continental ballistic missile (ICBM). It is long range surface to surface missile with strike range over 5000km.
  • This is the fifth test of the Agni Missile series and all the five test are successful, it was test fired from Abdul Kalam Island on the eastern coast of Odisha.

2.Vice Admiral A B Singh Takes  is appointed as new Chief of Staff Western Naval Command

  • Vice Admiral Ajendra Bahadur Singh replaces Vice Admiral Ravneet Singh and took over the charge of Chief of Staff, Western Naval Command. 
  • He is awarded with Vishisht Seva Medal in 2011 and in 2012 he is promoted to Flag Rank and in 2016 for his exemplary Service to the nation he is awarded with Ati Vishisht Seva Medal.

3. Sangeet Natak Akademi Awards 2016 is presented by President

  • Sangeet Natak Akademi’s Fellowships (Akademi Ratna) and Sangeet Natak Akademi Awards (Akademi Puraskar) for the year 2016 is presented by President Ram Nath Kovind in New Delhi.
  • These awards are given to best performing artists, teachers and scholars of performing arts and it is considered as national honours.

4. ICC Award 2017- Complete List of Winners

  • Australia captain Steve Smith has been honoured as International Cricket Council’s Test Player of the Year and Virat Kohli was the fourth-highest scorers in Test series in 2017 and he is also honoured twice in ICC’s annual awards in 2017.

5.  Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik  Launches ‘Mukhyamantri Kalakar Sahayata Yojana’

  • This scheme is for Artist of the state and around 50,000 artists will be benefited from this scheme. Government has decided to give Rs 1200 per month assistance to artists.
  • Under this scheme all male artist are eligible to attain the assisstence after attaining the age of 50 years instead of 60 years and for female the age limit is 40 years instead of 50 years.

6. PM Modi and Israeli PM Netanyahu dedicate ‘iCreate Centre’  to the nation

  • iCreate Centre is inaugrated at Deo Dholera in Ahmedabad. This facility is designed with an objective to promote the entrepreneurship in creativity, engineering, product designing, innovation and other emerging technologies that will deal with cyber security, IT and electronics, energy, bio-medical equipment and devices, Food security, connectivity etc.

7. Sanjay Manjrekar’s  autobiography launched 

  • Former Indian Test player Sanjay Manjrekar’s autobiography, is released by Dilip Vengsarkar.
  • The biography is named as ‘Imperfect’ and published by Harper Collins in Mumbai.
  • Sanjay Manjrekar has make his debute with Delhi Test against West Indies in 1987 under the captaincy of Dilip Vengsarkar in 1987. He scored his carrier best score 218 against Pakistani player Imran khan at Lahore in 1989.

8. 65th Meeting Of Central Advisory Board of Education (CABE) Held In New Delhi

  • The Chairman of the meeting is Union Human Resource Development Minister Shri Prakash Javadekar  and it is attended by the Union Minister for Culture and MoE(Independent Charge) Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Dr. Mahesh Sharma and Dr. Satya Pal Singh, Minister of State for HRD.
  • CABE is established in 1920 it is the advisory body of the Government of India in education.

9. Former President Pranab Mukherjee honored with D.Litt. degree by Chittagong University in Bangladesh

  • Vice Chancellor of Chittagong University Prof. Iftekhar Uddin Chowdhury conferred the Doctor of Literature degree to Mr. Mukherjee at university campus in Bangladesh.
  • The degree is given for his  “outstanding contributions to society and for being a genuine friend of Bangladesh”.

10. India Attends  SCO Military Cooperation Meeting For The First Time 

  • India participated in the meeting of international military cooperation of  Shanghai Cooperation Organisation in China.
  • Indian delegation is represented by the Major General Ajay Seth in the meeting. And they discussed the issues of practical cooperation among the nation.

11. Third Edition Of  Geo-Political Conference ‘Raisina Dialogue’ is Inaugrated by Israeli PM Netanyahu.

  •  The event is held at New Delhi and it is jointly organised by Ministry of External Affairs and Observer Research Foundation (ORF).
  • The theme of the event of this year is ‘Managing Disruptive Transitions: Ideas, Institutions and Idioms’.
  • This event is multilateral conference and the inaugural session is attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj

12. BBIN Pact: Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal Gives Nod For Vehicle Movement Procedure

  • The pact is the sub-regional agreement that allow movement of passenger, transportation and cargo or vehicles to enter in the territory of countries like Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal.
  • The agreement is signed by the Transport Minister of BBIN countries in Thimphu, Bhutan.
  • The technical and financial assistance for BBIN motor vehicles agreement (MVA) is provided by Asian Development Bank (ADB)

13. Afghans award United States President Donald Trump ‘Medal of Bravery’

  • United States President Donald Trump is awarded with ‘Medal of Bravery’ award by the residents of Afghanistan’s Logar province in order to acknowledge his stance against Pakistan.
  • The bravery award has been handed over to US Embassy in Kabul.

14.  10th Global Forum for Food & Agriculture held at Berlin, Germany

  • 10th Global Forum for Food & Agriculture is held at Berlin, Germany  from 18-20 January, 2018 and it also includes the 10th Berlin Agriculture Ministers Conference. And the Indian delegation is led by Union Minister of State for Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat.
  • The theme of the event this year is  “Shaping the future of livestock – sustainably, responsibly, efficiently”. and it is mainly focused on sustainable and productive animal production.
  • GFFA Global Forum for Food and Agriculture is an international conference organised by Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection (BMEL) in cooperation with GFFA Berlin i.e the Senate of Berlin and Messe Berlin GmbH.

15.  China Opens ‘World’s Largest Air Purifier’

  • China has built the world largest air purifier of 100 high which is appox 328 feet tall in order to combat with increasing pollution level.
  • The purifier is built in Xian in Shaanxi Province of Nothern China.
