1.  India has been Ranked  177 among 180 countries  In EPI 2018

  • The list of Environmental Performance Index 2018 is released by Yale and Columbia Universities along with the collaboration of World Economic Forum. The report was released on the occasion of World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
  • The list is topped by the five countries Switzerland, France, Denmark, Malta, Sweden.

2. Govt Announces the list of Padma Awards 2018 

  • On the occasion Republic Day,  govt announces the 3 Padma Vibhushan, 9  Padma Bhushan and  73 Padma Shri awards.
  • The awards are given in different fields and disciplines such as art, literature and education, sports, medicine, social work, science and engineering, public affairs, civil service, trade and industry.
  • These awards are the top four civilian honors arranged as Bharat Ratna, Padma Vibhusan, Padma Bhusan, Padma Shri and they do not carry any prize money. The nominations of awardees are placed before  the Padma Awards Committee, constituted by the Prime Minister.

3. Govt Collects Rs 86,703 Cr Under GST In December 2017

  • This year the total revenue of ₹86,703 crore generated by the govt under GST in December 2017 received up to January 24. The Finance Ministry announced that approximately  one crore taxpayers have been registered under GST till January 24, 2018. 
  • In past 5 months the average monthly collection is about  ₹74,000 crore.

4. Vodafone And Flipkart Paired Up For 4G Smartphones

  • The e-commerce Flipkart is partnered with Vodafone India. The partnership aims to provide a range of entry-level 4G smartphones and planned to sell at an effective price of ₹999.
  • Vodafone announces the cash-back offers on a select range of entry-level 4G smartphone models available under Flipkart’s #MyFirst4GSmartphone campaign.

5. Labour Ministry Plans To Issue UWIN Cards

  • A drive in April is started by the labour ministry in order to register  over 47 crore unorganized sector workers and provide them with Unorganized Worker Index Number or UWIN Card.
  • The step is taken to provide a sense social security net and  provide them benefits of various social security schemes run by retirement fund body EPFO and state health insurer ESIC.
  • The UWIN Card carries the  unique number which would be seeded with Aadhaar.

6. Ministry Of Road Transport & Highways signed MoU  With IL&FS

  • The MoU is signed by  National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation (NHIDCL)  that comes under the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways with the  Infrastructure Leasing & Financial Services (IL&FS)Ltd.
  • Under the MoU a construction project of 14.150 km long, 2-lane bi-directional Zojila Tunnel in Jammu & Kashmir is laid down and for this a fund of Rs 6808.69 crore is allocated.
  • This will be the India’s longest road tunnel and the longest bi-directional tunnel in Asia and this tunnel will provide connectivity between Srinagar, Kargil and Leh.

7. The Jaipur Literature Festival 2018 Begins

  • The festival is inaugurated by the former governor of Rajasthan Margaret Alva and British-born American essayist and novelist Pico Iyer.
  • The festival is organised at Diggi Palace,Amber Fort and Hawa Mahal of Rajasthan and the theme of the event is Poetry.

8.  Snapdeal’s Logistics Arm is Acquired By The Future Supply Chains

  • Snapdeal’s logistics service provider Vulcan Express Pvt Ltd is acquired by the Kishore Biyani’s owned  Future Supply Chain Solutions.
  • The deal has been done at Rs. 35 crore. 
  • Vulcan company aims to boost its last mile capabilities and also offer state-of-the-art solutions to its e-commerce and retail clients.

9.  A MoU is signed between  National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) With Malaysia’s SME Corporation

  • This pact will boost the exchange of information and cooperation in the areas like policies that enhance the development of small and medium businesses (SMBs) in the two countries.
